Roshani Wickramaratne James

Best known by her friends and family as “Roshie”, she grew up on music. Coming from a very musical family, she has loved to sing and play the piano for as long as she can remember. She has been a part of the Peoples’ Church, Assembly of God Choir for the past twelve years, and has enjoyed every moment of it. A former student of Methodist College, she was also a member of the Senior Choir, and took part in several Inter-House and Inter-School singing competitions whilst at school. In 2005, she was voted in as one of the finalists on ‘YES FM Radio Superstar’, an experience she finds unforgettable! Having qualified as a montessori teacher, after having completed her AMI Diploma from St. Bridget’s Convent in 2006, she worked as a teacher at the British School in Colombo and is currently teaching at the Soul Sounds academy. She has always loved children, and so finds her work to be one of the most rewarding aspects of her life. Spending time with family and friends, over a meal or a good movie, is the ideal form of relaxation for her, whilst singing will always remain a passion.

“Every moment in life is a gift from God and I really enjoy each moment I’ve spent with the ‘gifted’ Soul Sounds choir. To me we’re not just a choir and although we come from different backgrounds, different lifestyles and beliefs, we’re drawn to each other through love, laughter, hugs and FOOD! I know that my Soul Sounds family will be there for me no matter what life may throw at me, be it good or bad.”
