My learning of Music began at the age of 5 years when my maternal grandfather tutored me on the pedestal model of a Harmonium with the “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” oriental music notation when my parents and family were stationed in Nawalapitiya.

On taking up residence in Colombo a few years later, my learning of Western Music on the Piano commenced at the age of 8 years at the Pestonjee School of Music under the renowned guidance of late Mrs. Mary Billimoria where I was prepared to sit for the practical and theory examinations of the Trinity College of Music, London.

With the Secondary education at Holy Family Convent in Bambalapitiya, I completed my higher grade examinations under the able guidance of the late Rev. Sister Mary of Mercy at the Convent Music Department.

After pursuing a totally different profession in my middle age, and with the turn of the millenium, I continued with my higher levels of learning Music under the expert guidance of Mrs. Louisa David with the finer points for progressing from the eminent Mrs. Soundarie David Rodrigo.

In addition to the Trinity College of Music, London examinations, I successfully completed the performance of Teachers in practical and theory of the Institute of Western Music & Speech of Sri Lanka.

In the beginning of the year 2003, Madame Soundarie very kindly requested me to assist her mother Madame Louisa in teaching on piano to the pupils at her school in Charlemont Road in Wellawatte.

From 2011 to end 2017, I have also taught Music on Piano both practical and theory at the Studio of Performing Arts in Colombo 5.

In January 2014, it was a further honour for me when Madame Soundarie offered me the position of a Music Teacher at the Souls Sounds Academy at Gregory’s Road in Colombo 7.

With the blessings of Almighty God, I am continuing to teach at the Soul Sounds Academy at Kassapa Road in Colombo 5 with the growing children of the younger generation.

During my tenure of over 20 years, I have prepared pupils for piano and theory examinations of the Trinity College of Music, Royal School of Music, London and the Institute of Western Music & Speech in Sri Lanka.
