Soundarie David Rodrigo, is a Pianist, Music Educator, Choral director, Composer, and Intellectual Property Lawyer. She is a well known figure in the Sri Lankan music industry, recognized for her musical excellence in teaching young children to be passionate about their music, as well as her skills on the piano. 
 
She pursed her musical education at the Royal College of Music, London, specializing in piano performance and piano accompaniment. She also pursued her legal studies at the University of California, Berkeley where she specialized in Entertainment Law, having being a recipient of the Rotary World Peace Scholarship. Soundarie is the Founder and Music Director of Sri Lanka’s premiere female choral ensemble ‘Soul Sounds’ the first choir in Sri Lanka to perform and win awards internationally.  
 
Over the last sixteen years Soul Sounds has given highly acclaimed performances in India, Australia, China, Kuwait, Austria, France, USA, Malaysia South Africa, and New Zealand, thus placing Sri Lanka on the map of International choral Music. The Choir’s recent success at the World Choir Games in Auckland, New Zealand, where they secured two Gold Medals, is testimony to her continuous dedication to music and arts in the country. As the Founder of the Soul Sounds Academy, her visionary leadership ensures that each student, be it for voice or instrument is coached in a way that would bring out the best in them.

Shivanthi Subramaniam

Vocal Coach

Shivanthi Subramaniam’s musical journey started at very young age at Good Shepherd Convent Kotahena. She was the choir leader of the senior choir and lead the team at the international tour where 100 students from four leading school choirs represented Sri Lanka in Rome in 2012.

Vocal Coach

Uvini, began her journey with Soul Sounds Academy in 2013, joining the Friday 6:15 PM class. Since then, her experience has been enriched with learning, new opportunities, and exceptional growth. She is a member of the award-winning ‘Soul Sounds Academy Choir’ and is also part of globally recognized award-winning female ensemble ‘Soul Sounds’. Transitioning from student to vocal teacher at the same academy has been a remarkable milestone for her. 

 

Shenuk Wijesinghe

Vocal Coach

Shenuk Wijesinghe completed his Primary and Secondary Education at Lyceum International School Wattala and holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in International Business Management from Staffordshire University London. Shenuk’s passion for singing led him to join Soul Sounds Academy at the age of eight under the guidance of Ms Soundarie David Rodrigo, where he excelled and achieved high scores in the Royal School of Music London Examinations.

Shamara Fernando

Shamara’s musical career took off at the age of 5 years when she joined Soul Sounds Academy’s first ever Children’s Choir. This was a milestone in her life where her passion for music and singing was born. The foundation that was laid at Soul Sounds Academy has helped her in exceling in her musical career.

Heshinee Perampalam

Vocal Coach

Heshinee’s musical journey began over a decade ago at Soul Sounds Academy, where her passion for music took flight. Before joining the acclaimed all-female ensemble Soul Sounds, she showcased her vocal talents at events like the World Choir Games in South Africa (2018) and the Vietnam Children’s TV festival as a member of the Soul Sounds Academy

Ashvinie Ekanayake

Ashvinie Ekanayake is a 21 year old who studied at St Bridget’s Convent Colombo 7. From a young age, she found herself drawn to the world of music and her journey in music began over 12 years ago when she joined The Soul Sounds Academy, starting from the children’s choir to the soul sounds academy choir and finally as apart of Sri Lanka’s female ensemble, Soul Sounds .

Nishantha Warnakulasuriya

Violin Coach

Nishantha Warnakulasuriya is a Music Director, Choral Director, Singer, Violinist, Pianist and a performing member of The Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka (SOSL). He teaches violin at Soul Sounds Academy and has been teaching at the academy for over 10 years.

 

Louisa David

Has teaching experience of over 50 years. She started her teaching career at the then well known Pestongee School of Music, having taught the piano and violin there for over 15years. She then continued teaching privately at home, and is also a Board Member and Examiner for the Institute of Western Music and Speech in Sri Lankan

Dona Ruwini

Dona Ruwini is a seasoned pianist, choral director, music director, composer, and singer, whose life is a testament to her passion for music and dedication to nurturing young talent. With over 12 years of experience as a piano teacher at Soul Sounds Academy, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the musical journeys of countless students. Guided by her belief that the greatest connection in life is through the beauty of music, Dona embraces the motto Aspire to Inspire.

Yasasi Kuruwita

Yasasi Kuruwita is a dedicated Music Theory and Piano teacher at Soul Sounds Academy. She is passionate about motivating her students and creating a comfortable, enjoyable learning environment. 

Mrs. Hafeela Jayah Akbar

Piano Coach

My learning of Music began at the age of 5 years when my maternal grandfather tutored me on the pedestal model of a Harmonium with the “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” oriental music notation when my parents and family were stationed in Nawalapitiya.

  

Deon Ludowyke

Violin Coach

Deon Ludowyke is a 27-year-old musician who began his musical journey at the age of 5. A former student of St. Benedict’s College, Deon has been playing the violin for over 22 years.

Isuri Obeysekera

Piano Coach

Raised in a musical family, where her mother was her first music teacher, she has always been surrounded by the sounds of music and learning. With her mother’s guidance and the support of many other teachers, she is well on her way to becoming a successful music educator.

She started her musical journey from a young age dancing and singing
to tunes played from the nursery Piano. Playing the Piano and singing
were her most favored activities from an early age.

Pradeep Rodrigo

Guitar Coach

Pradeep, an Indian by nationality, has been playing the guitar and bass from his school days. Hailing from a musical family, he started by playing in a band called the “Eleventh Commandment” whilst at Loyala College, Chennai where he completed his graduation . Since then, he is a full time musician, playing the bass guitar for several Music Directors in Chennai , India. He has played for several recordings and concerts around India as well as concert tours and assignments in Europe, Canada, Australia, France Germany Singapore , Malaysia , Dubai, Sharjah , Abu Dhabi and Africa.
Currently he is based in Sri Lanka.

Pradeep Samaranayake

Guitar Coach


Pradeep learnt guitar at Soul Sounds Academy under the expert guidance of Pradeep Rodrigo. He has completed Trinity Rock and Pop exams and has taken part in several guitar concerts as a student. He joined the Academy as a teacher in 2018. His main areas of interests are sinhala pop, 80s rock music, and fingerstyle guitar music.

Pradeep is a graduate of Bangalore University with a BSc in Microbiology and is a Bookseller/Publisher by profession.

Jerome L. De Silva

Theatre Coach

Artistic Director of WSP since its inception, Jerome studied at St. Josephs College Colombo 10 and St. Peters College Colombo 04. Jerome was an announcer at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation from 1972-79. He owes his theatrical career spanning over 45 years to Mrs. Wendy Whatmore, Rev. Fr. Claver Perera, Mrs. Oosha Wijesinghe and Mrs. Ena Heynnecker. He has over 100 productions to his credit.
