6. Community Engagement : Soul Sounds Academy engages with the local community through outreach programs, workshops, and charity events. It also brings down the worlds best choral and music experts for inhouse workshops for its students.

The Soul Sounds Academy founded by Soundarie David Rodrigo, is one of Sri Lanka’s Premiere Institutions for Music Education. At the Soul Sounds Academy, students recieve both vocal and instrumental training across a variety of disciplines, including piano, guitar, violin, and voice. With a team of experienced and qualified teachers – many of whom perform on stage – the Academy ensures that students receive the highest quality of music education. The close knit faculty also provides personalized guidance to help students reach their full potential. The existing Staff and Students share a friendly rapport and this helps the young students discuss their future musical goals and dreams, and their musical journey is a guided journey – here at the Soul Sounds Academy.

Performance opportunities are a core part of the Soul Sounds Academy experience – this comes down from the fact that it’s Artistic Director and Founder – Soundarie David Rodrigo, herself a performing pianist – believes in the power of performances to audiences, not just for its musical value but also for the fact that it helps build confidence to be on stage, and thereby develops personality. One of the signature events of the Soul Sounds Academy is the Junior Concert – where over 400 young performers showcase their talents in an exciting repertoire that includes songs from musicals and classical pieces. Similarly the other departments at the Soul Sounds Academy – namely the Piano, Violin and Guitar Departments also hold regularly Performance Days, and small concerts. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Academy innovatively pivoted to virtual platforms, hosting events like the Virtual Music Summer Camp and the Virtual Christmas Festival, allowing students from around the world to participate and engage with global audiences. Further the Soul Sounds Academy regularly connects with Music Experts from around the world, bringing them down to Sri Lanka to share knowledge with their young students.

The Academy is also committed to community engagement, conducting outreach programs, workshops and charity events to inspire and give back to local community. With its cosy but state of the art facilities- including classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and a performance area, Soul Sounds Academy provides a stimulating environment that fosters creativity and artistic growth.

Students of Soul Sounds Academy have achieved international success particularly their involvement in International Competitions, such as the Bali International Choir Festival, the Asia Pacific Choir Games, the World Choir Games and other Interntional Competitions, where the Academy has brought in honor and glory not just to the Academy but the country as well. The Academy has built strong collaborations with institutions such as the Young Choral Academy in Malaysia, the Bandung Choral Society in Indonesia, and other International Organizations further broadening the horizons for its students.
